Eye Exam

You can obtain a prescription for glasses from your preferred, local optometrist. If an ophthalmologist is preferred for a more comprehensive exam, please make use of the Stony Brook University Hospital's (SBUH) financial assistance with SBUH's Department of Ophthalmology for a more affordable price if needed.

When obtaining a prescription, ask for your pupillary distance (PD). If they refuse to provide it without buying glasses, most wholesale clubs (Sam's Club, BJs, Costco) provide this for free at their respective optometrist office. Furthermore, this can also be measured at home using this method.
